Formation and Weathering of Rocks
CHEMICAL WEATHERING Essay - Words
Weathering is the process in which rocks and minerals on Earth's surface are broken down by natural agents. These natural agents include water, ice, acids, salt, plants, animas, and temperature. Weathering can smooth and wear away rock. There is no rock that is hard enough not to be weathered.
5 Chemical Weathering Examples and How They Occur
Chemical weathering changes the materials in soil or rock. One example is when carbonic acid, which is made when carbon dioxide mixes with water, dissolves rock. This is especially effective when dissolving limestone. Another example is when a rock with iron rusts and expands, which breaks the rock.
In recent years, various method such as nanofiltration [15, 16], capacitive deionization , electrodialysis , electrochemical treatment and, adsorption [20, 21] have been widely studied for ions removal from aqueous solution, especially water softening. Several adsorbent are qualified for this purpose. Activated carbon is the most popular adsorbent which used for water softening but it cost remains its main drawback .
